Talk about climbing aboard the Titanic ten minutes before it hits the iceberg! Iceland has opened negotiations with Brussels about the terms for its joining the EU. Didn’t the Icelanders learn any lessons from their own debt crisis?

In other news, a Socialist member of the French Parliament says that the newly-released former IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn was a victim of a plot. The alleged transatlantic conspiracy involved orders from Paris, and operated through the French company that owns the hotel in which Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s… ahem… dalliance occurred.
