The European Central Bank disagrees with the German government about the crisis in Greece, saying that any restructuring of Greek debt would be disastrous. A behind-the-scenes plan is now underway for private creditors to agree voluntarily on a rollover of their loans to Greece.In other news, the Kuwaiti foreign minister announced that his government will donate $180 million to the Libyan rebels in the Transitional National Council.
Meanwhile, further evidence has emerged that the E. coli bacteria responsible for the deadly outbreak in Germany was genetically engineered: certain sequences of the dangerous bacteria’s DNA appear to be derived from bubonic plague, and helped make the pathogen particularly virulent.
